Production example: a shifting environment

A documented production can provide a comparison point for moving panels and screens. In your own concept, explain how actors interact with the chosen architecture and how that changes status, movement and audience focus.

The Private Beach (Act 1)

What happens: Callum and Sephy secretly meet at their private beach, naive to the reality of the society around them.

Eduqas Exam Focus & Proxemics:
  • The Set: The monolithic folding panels are pushed far to the edges, physically opening up the stage to create a rare feeling of freedom and space.
  • Intimate Proxemics: Callum and Sephy sit tightly together downstage-center, using relaxed, overlapping body language.
  • The Screens: Even here, the cyclorama screen should dimly glow with static, a visual reminder to the audience that the surveillance state is always looming in the background.
