With a minimal set, lighting can carry location, status and mood. Decide what each state reveals; even warmth can be useful when the contrast is deliberate. Use hostile angles, stark white specials (interrogation), and fractured textures to suggest a twisted environment.

A colder state can make the world feel exposed, a dirty amber can suggest urban decay, and a tight white special can turn Phil into the focal point without moving the set at all.
