Pathetic Fallacy, Paranoia, and Warfare
Top band answers use precise terminology. Diegetic sound is heard by the characters (e.g., knocking at the gate). Non-diegetic sound is for the audience (e.g., a low drone to suggest paranoia). Use pathetic fallacy when weather/soundscape reflects moral disorder (storms after regicide; thunder around the Witches).
Pathetic fallacy: nature mirrors unnatural evil. Use heavy, distorted non-diegetic thunder and wind so the audience feels the supernatural before a line is spoken. The volume should be high enough to unsettle, but controlled so dialogue remains intelligible.
